About A Travel Junkie

Currently living in the beautiful Garden Route of South Africa (but prone to hit the road to somewhere else at any time), I’m a travel fanatic, keen angler, photographer, digital marketing veteran and travel writer, with a particular weakness for Tropical Islands, the great open spaces of Africa and Europe’s ancient history.

My passion is to travel, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have done my share of exploring the world, camera in hand. There are any number of travel blog websites aimed at young travellers on a tight budget, this travel resource is aimed at perhaps somewhat more mature, “baby boomer”, travel fanatics, seeking to experience the sights, sounds, tastes and other delights of the world in a little more style and comfort. You won’t find much information on backpacker establishments or party venues, but rather a more upmarket range of experiences, establishments and travel products that might appeal to a more “grown-up” traveller. My goal is to help you to enjoy your travels and, most importantly, have fun doing it.

My Backyard

Early Years
I was born in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia back then) and after a spell working as a surveyor on the gold mines of the Witwatersrand I moved to Cape Town in the 80’s where I met my beautiful wife and started a family. In 1999 the internet became a focus and life steered in the direction of digital marketing, soon afterwards my SEO agency was born. The company was sold in late 2013 to a large media group based in Europe, giving me the privilege of being able to do what I love the best pretty much full time; marketing, photography, writing and travelling, a lifestyle that’s hard to beat.

Travel Advice, Awesome Places & Inspiration

Photography has been a lifelong passion for me, in fact, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a camera nearby. So please enjoy this visual journey, the amazing destinations we’ve visited, and the useful stuff uncovered in the process. I’ve been fortunate enough to come across some incredibly wonderful destinations, discovered some of the awesome places in the world, and, along the way encountered some handy gadgets & products, I hope that within this website, you might find something that will make your own journey of exploration that little bit more comfortable.

Being obsessed with photography and videography, my Canon camera, GoPro, and more recently a Dji Drone, are seldom far from hand. My photography website is here: www.chriscorbetphoto.com.
